jar of old antique vintage buttons from five generations family farm, many 1800s

Large glass herring jar (6 1/2" x 5" x 5") holding a button collection from several lifetimes! This is right out of a farm estate near the Wisconsin River, very rural country where everything was saved for use and reuse.

These buttons were collected over five generations, and there's a lot of them here going back into the 1800s. Many pearl shell, some bone, some rubber - some newer at only 40 or 50 years old, bakelite and plastic.

Nothing terribly fancy, these are mostly plain working everyday clothes buttons. It's a wonderful, very interesting time capsule here!
