mid-century vintage USA (California?) pottery planter, little rooster with big eyelashes

Mid-century mod vintage hand painted pottery planter pot or vase, a little baby rooster! So cute, even though it does have a lot of wear to the paint. Looks like a California studio art pottery piece to me.

This has a few brush marks which might be a signature on the bottom, but I don't know the maker of this piece. Rooster measures 8" tall, has crazing but no chips or cracks.
