old antique hand knit wool mittens, farm chores chopper mittens w/ blue striped ticking fabric

Early 1900s vintage handmade work wear mittens, right out of a farm estate here in Wisconsin. These are adult sized mittens made very sturdily of hand knit wool with striped cotton ticking fabric sewn on top.

These are super stiff and lumpy, not like the soft stretchy winter gear made for outdoor work nowadays. They're from a time when we did the best we could with the simple things we had. These have been much used, and mended.
