set of 12 antique brown transferware butter pats or side dishes, small square plates

Set of twelve small square china dishes with Chelsea floral transferware pattern in brown, antique English Staffordshire china.

These are about 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" across the rims... a little large for butter pats, but a little small for salad plates. Perhaps oyster or pickle dishes?

Many of these have noticeable wear (chips, cracks, staining) but we've left them altogether as it's almost impossible to collect a complete set of twelve in most antique china patterns!
