tarnished sterling silver picture frame w/ vintage photo little boy in short pants, 1940s?

We found this old sterling silver frame with this photo, and are guessing the frame is close to period of the picture.

1930s? 1940s? 1950s? It's a beautiful snapshot, but we're having a hard time pinpointing the age of the photo. The snow covers most of the landscape details, and the little boy is like Christopher Robin in handknits! We're including the photo in the frame for you, it's so sweet.

The frame has a lovely faded velvet backing, and measures about 4" x 2 3/4" over the area for the picture, about 5" x 3 1/2" overall.
