antique early hand-crank telephone vintage, Reliable 977 lightning arrester

Old, early century lightning arrester for rural and farmhouse telephones. It is a model 977, made by the Reliable Electric Company of Chicago, ILL. It measures about 3.5" x 2.5" across the porcelain base and 2.25" high. This looks in nice vintage condition, but we haven't tested it.
