tiny round wicker basket, vintage sewing basket, working toy or salesman's sample miniature

Smallest round wicker sewing basket I've ever seen - this one is just 4 1/2" in diameter! It's a little worn on the bottom, but lid fits well and it's nice and clean.

I'm not sure if this was made as a toy, or just a very small real sewing basket?

I've seen many sewing baskets just like this one only larger, usually with a Chinese coin or beads or tassels. This one is plain, but wouldn't it be great trimmed up and added to a collection of vintage sewing baskets?
