vintage Taiwan electronic ornament, song bird chirping musical ball to plug into Christmas lights

1980s or 90s vintage Taiwan bird song ball electronic ornament. I'm not sure exactly how this works, or if it's working correctly - it chirps the same chirp over and over when plugged in, but twittered when I moved the ball around. Wiring appears good, and the plastic ornament is in good clean condition.
