Old brass (or bronze?) double inkwell, ornate design with little owls. This isn't marked at all that we can find, and we don't know very much about the age or maker, just that it came out of an estate in northern Illinois.

The base measures 9" x 4 3/4". One of the covers with the owls is missing a pin from the hinge, and the other has a broken hinge, but these would not be noticeable if repaired, as the hinges are under the lids.
