ornate antique vintage cast metal planter, faux bronze finish distressed patina

Beautifully worn old cast metal 'planter', originally the base for a lamp with figural 'French bronzes' I believe. The statues are long gone, but this piece is lovely just as it is. Fill it with silk flowers or greenery, or fit a piece inside to use this as a display bowl or a riser.

It measures 11 1/2" long x 6 1/4" wide, 5 1/4" tall. The spelter metal is a grey tone under the original painted finish. There's a hole near the bottom which looks to have been for an electrical cord, which is why I think this was originally a lamp. No makers mark that I could see, though it's probably early 1900s.
