vintage glass match holder / striker vase, swirl pattern hand blown glass ball

We believe this is an old match striker vase, though we can't strike a light on it... I think it's hard to light today's safety matches at all!

This is hand blown glass, measuring about 3" overall diameter x 2 3/4" tall. It's in good clean condition without a lot of scratching or wear.
