vintage pink depression glass pitcher, cream top style milk pitcher

Interesting old pink depression glass pitcher - this is the first time I've ever found a cream top pitcher in colored glass. These are almost always plain clear utility type glassware, this one is fancy!

In the days no so long ago when not all milk was homogenized, cream top style milk bottles and pitchers made a handy way to get rich cream or the lower fat milk easily for coffee, or for cooking. A piece of every day real life from times gone by - this really has no practical use now (if you have your own milk, you'll have way more than this tiny 6" pitcher full).

This pitcher does show some wear from use. The handle looks good, but there's a barely visible very flat chip at the spout. Hard to feel, and almost impossible to see.
