vintage sewing trim, wide gold braid for lampshade trimming or uniforms

Very large roll of wide gold braid trim, 1/2" wide. This is a very firm, stiff material - for uniform trims or edging lamp shades?

It's in excellent condition, clean and nice. We haven't unwound this roll to measure the yardage, but the roll itself measures almost 9" in diameter!
