hand-crafted carved wood bowl from Russia, graceful swan w/ chip carving

Handmade chip carved bowl in the shape of a swan, 6" long end to end. This is signed, though we can't make out the marking. We've been told this is from eastern Europe (Russia?), but we know very little about this type of folk art, and do not know the age of this piece. It's in very nice condition.
