primitive antique wood yarn skein winder w/ mortis & tenon joints
more photos of this product belowPrimitive antique vintage yarn skein winder from an old farm estate. This yarn winder has a worm gear that pops the weasel as the arms go around counting the length of the yarn.
It is hand built with mortis and tenon construction and pegged joints. We think there are only about three nails in the entire piece. It still has the craftsman's scribed layout marks.
It measures about 42" high and 26 1/2" across the winder arms. There is some chipping to the worm and the gear is cracked.
This winder will be partially disassembled for shipping. The keys will be removed from the main tenons and the center piece removed from the base and the worm spindle and arms will be removed by disassembling a pegged joint. Several of the pegs are already loose. So assemble will be required.
