primitive vintage enamelware, graniteware enamel ribbon box w/ cover

Lidded graniteware enamel box, 10" x 10" x 5", with vented cover. We have no idea what this was originally intended for, but we think it would be great to hold yarn, cords, or ribbons, slotted out through the four evenly spaced slots in the lid. How handy for your desk or worktable!
