primitive old wood chest, vintage candle box or small trunk w/ flat top lid

Old wooden box with hinged lid, possibly a dresser box? It's nicely sized to hold candles, kitchen utensils or even a doll!

Size is 12" x 7" x 5 1/4" tall. Condition is very good, and we'd guess that it's probably 1940s vintage though it might be a little older.
