antique metal purse clasp, hardware for old needlework reticule or mesh handbag
more photos of this product belowVery old metal 'jaws' for a ladies purse, Victorian era. These measure 6 1/2" long when flat, and are hinged in two directions, to fit a circular sock type bag. (Probably 1880s or thereabouts. We couldn't find a date or maker's mark, sorry.)
These have a gold colored or brass plated finish, showing some wear and rust spotting. The hardware itself is solid, all holes at the bottom edge complete, fine to use!
