English bulldog antique cast metal inkwell pen holder, spelter w/ bronze finish

I love this wonderfully detailed little bulldog, with his bony shape and somewhat angry expression!

We believe this was probably the base of a pen holder or ink well, though there's nothing but an empty hole at the stump, and it doesn't appear to be marked or signed that we could see.

It measures about 4 1/2" across x 4 1/2" tall overall, dog is smaller than that. There's wear the the bronzed finish, and a worn felt on the bottom.
