Lid only for a mid 19th century transfer
ware china serving dish, probably English, though we don't know the
pattern name or maker.
This has noticeable browning (which we like) and a few chips (not great, but it's so hard to find lids in general!).
It's a little on the flat side to use as a tray cover, but there's a fair distance between the fitter size and the overall dimensions, so it's somewhat suitable for a dish of the slightly 'wrong' size.
Measures 8 1/4" x 5 1/2" across the fitter, 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" overall.
