Set of four lion head ring handle ornamental hardware pieces... these look as though they were made to fit as corner pieces on something, not sure what.
They're probably late 1800s or early 1900s vintage, classic gothic style, cast spelter metal with antique brass or bronze finish.
These are 3 1/2" long top to bottom, with opening behind the head of about 2" x 2". We found no makers mark on any of these. The finish is a little spotted and worn.
These came to us in a collection of hardware from a antique dealer and collector who had amassed an amazing pile of interesting old stuff from homes in the Milwaukee area. He was a plumber by trade, collecting some of the most unusual pieces we've ever seen.
It's not too often that we find total mystery pieces anymore, but these have us stumped. If you can shed any light on what these were originally used for, please email us. We'd love to hear from you!
