Antique English ironstone china, late 1800s or very early 1900s vintage.
It's not often that we find a set in transferware ironstone, and this
one is so pretty, with a floral in muted blues, browns, greens. The mark
is Maddock and Co - Burslem, Royal Stone China.
This is a set for eight, cups with deep bowl saucers and all purpose plates, rustic country ware. There's also two square cake or sandwich serving plates.
It's not in flawless condition... all pieces show wear to the gold, and most have some visible scratching and utensil marks. Many pieces are stained or spotted with foxing, and some of these pieces have hairlines, or tiny chips. We've left it all together, as we've never found a set nicer for a farmhouse table than this one!
