vintage religious chalkware figure of Mary lighted grotto wall hanging niche shrine

1930s or 40s vintage painted plaster chalkware niche with Mary, very lovely. It's made to hang flat against a wall, and measures about 13 1/2" x 8 1/2" overall.

This was made to be lighted, with a small single candle bulb at the font like base. It's not working or usable as it is because of the very old very worn wiring as shown. I'm not sure how to go about fixing this, but it would display very nicely even without the light.
