Enamel on brass box, marked China. This is a nicely made, interesting piece - though we're not sure what it's original purpose was?
The brass interior is made to dip out of the three compartments with your fingers. Possibly a snuff box, or a medicine or spice box? The box is pocket sized, about 4 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" overall. We've shown a penny inside and out for scale.
The brass is solid, with applied glass enameling. Doesn't look exactly like champleve or cloisonne. There's a good patina and tarnish, but we don't believe it's antique, just 20th century vintage. The mark on the bottom reads China, without a chop stamp or any characters as far as we could see.
