80s 90s vintage Pier 1 porcelain tea pot made in China, hand painted big eye cat or owl

There's some debate here whether this little china teapot is a owl, or a cat! The ears are distinctly kitten like, but the eyes look more like an owl.

It's all hand painted, made in China for Pier 1, late 80s or early 90s, when they were mostly an import shop and still carried cute odd collectible things.

This measures about 4 3/4" tall overall, and is in very good condition without damage - roughly made, but apparently never used.
