Late 19th century vintage crazy quilt with lovely embroidery... this was made as a friendship quilt over a period of several years, and has different girls names and dates, all 1890s.
The fabrics are an interesting collection of late 1800s fabric (silk, solid colored cottons and prints, shirting and suitings, ladies dress wools in mostly solid colors). The backing fabric is pieced cotton 28" wide, so we'd expect it's period to the quilt.
The quilt measures 76" x 85" overall, and the bound edge looks pretty good, though this quilt has some problems (more from age and storage than from any real use, I think).
There's some spots, small holes and moth holes to some of the fabric. Some of the silks are shredded as you'd expect on a piece like this. But overall the fabric looks fairly good, not especially dusty or brittle.
