Interestingly bound wood frame on this nice old school room slate - I don't know why this frame is 'padded', maybe it was set up to fit into a writing desk top?
The slate area is about 5" x 7", and looks good overall. The wooden frame fits it snugly and looks fine, wear only on the binding as shown.
