antique homespun coverlet fabric, hand woven indigo blue cloth table runner
more photos of this product belowEarly homespun and handwoven fabric, natural off white and indigo blue. This is mid 1800s vintage judging from the pattern style, but we're not sure of the fiber content (wool, linen, cotton, hemp, a mixture of wool and linen?).
This came out of 150 year + family farm in the Milwaukee area, so this fabric could easily be native to Wisconsin (in which case it's probably all flax, or wool and linen) or brought in with settlers of eastern Wisconsin (in which case it could be anything of a natural fiber).
It's a long fragment off of a coverlet, measuring 18" wide (handsewn hem on one side) x 32" long (the center is seamed). It's worn but sturdy yet, and would make a lovely primitive table runner.
