antique homespun wool blanket, 1800s vintage Shaker hand woven coverlet w/ blue embroidery

Very old Shaker bed blanket, handwoven homespun natural wool with blue wool blanket stitching and lettering. We believe this is marked SAH (or SAM?) No12, though we have no idea which colony this would have come from, sorry!

It came to us out of the estate collection of an antique dealer here in Wisconsin, we know nothing of it's history prior to that, though we think it had probably been in that collection since the 50s or 60s.

Size is 84" x 72" overall, and condition is very good - soft and supple, the join between the woven widths holding nicely.

The natural white wool color is clean without a lot of spotting or discoloration, though we saw a number of mothholes to the fabric and the embroidery stitching.
