antique rug beater, coiled wire star flower shape w/ wood handle, ugly old paint

Primitive old coiled wire rug beater, early 20th century vintage. Measures 22 1/2" long end to end. I love that star or flower shape, with the coiled wire all around.

This is a piece with a strange paint job, at some point it was entirely painted over with aluminum silver paint (what I think of as silo paint, very popular during the mid-century). I've left it just as found.
