antique vintage heavy glass sugar shaker jar with no lid, countertop string holder upcycle

This nice heavy vintage pressed glass 'jar' with center hole is actually a old fashioned sugar dispenser, or so I've been told. I have no lid (the 'bottom' of this piece is open, has been for years, it has some slight roughness to the rim.). It doesn't fit a mason jar lid, it's too big for the regular lids and too small for the wide mouth lids. I just haven't been able to find a lid to fit this!
But - I think this makes a wonderful string holder for jute or baker's twine, just as it is. It looks so good, and the glass is heavy enough to keep the twine stable. The string feeds out the center hole perfectly. I'm including the string I used here, it's a spool from the dollar store or my local flea market. A common spool size I think, pretty easy to find cord that will work well in this jar.
