WWII US Army wool overcoat w/3rd Armored Div & Hon Discharge patches
more photos of this product belowWe found the original uniform insignia patches still in the pocket of this coat. There is a triangular 3rd Armored Division "Third Herd" patch with a the "Spearhead" tab patch as well as a NCO sergeant's chevrons and a WW2 "ruptured duck" honorable discharge patch etc. You can still see the scar from the honorable discharge patch from the backside of the coat front.
We were told that the 3rd Armored Division was activated as a heavy armored division at Camp Beauregard, LA on April 15th 1941. It first saw combat in France on June 29 1944 (shortly after the D-Day invasion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
This field coat is stamped in the back of the coat as a size 40R. It measures about 40" around the chest (under the arms), 16.5" long on the sleeves (from the armpit to the cuff), 21.5' across the shoulders at the back and 49.5" long. This is in nice vintage condition.
