artist signed folk art hand painted farm barn fall landscape scene on old stoneware crock jug

Old stoneware pottery pitcher with hand painted Wisconsin barn scene in autumn, painted on top of the original glazed finish.

This is signed simply 'Ruth', probably a view of her own barn, or the family farm from childhood memories. I don't know where exactly, this is a very typical barn for Wisconsin. Once upon a time almost everyone in the rural midwest knew a barn like this. There aren't very many left around now.

The painted design has some wear and scratching, though the pitcher itself looks very good, carefully cared for without chips or cracks. It's a short fat shape, about 6 3/4" wide x 4 1/2" tall.
