antique 1800s Thomas Carlyle / French Revolution set w/ art bindings

Old antique two volume set of Thomas Carlyle's "The French Revolution - A History" with embossed art bindings. This set has a total of more then 1200 pages between both books.

We're not sure of the exact vintage of this set (the end paper / frontispiece is torn out of each volume, but the title page is still there) as there is no date that we can find.

Thomas Carlyle originally published this definitive work on the French Revolution in 1837 and we'd guess that this particular set is from between about 1875 and 1915. There is an inscription inside the covers regarding an auction in 1965.

These books measure 6" high. They have some wear and the pages are yellowed.
