old salesman's sample of Star Hay Carrier Track for the barn haymow

Rare old antique farm salesman's sample section of "Star Double Flange Hay Carrier Track" made by "Hunt-Helm - Ferris & Co" somewhere in Illinois (we can't make out where). This track was sold to the farmers, who'd install it in the barn's haymow along the peak of the roof. The summer's harvest of hay would be carried into the haymow along this track with large iron forks using a system of ropes and pulleys driven by teams of horses and later tractors.

This sample of track is held together with rivets and measures about 3 inches long and 1 5/8 inches high. This has rust and a patina of age to the iron.
