1940s vintage German metal handled tray w/ painted glass plate

Black and gold reverse painted glass tray in steel frame with tiny handles, originally tin or nickel plated. The metal is now worn down to the base metal, except on the bottom, where the painted enamel looks good, without damage.

The underside is marked Western Germany, which dates this to the late 1940s or early 1950s, just after the war. It's made in the style of the earlier German trays made for export in the late 1920s and 1930s, so it has a lovely old-fashioned antique style.
