vintage painted flowers carved wood salad bowls

Vintage hand carved and painted wood salad set, we were told this is from Mexico? The big bowl measures 13" in diameter x 4 1/4" deep, and the six smaller bowls measure 6 3/4" in diameter. These have a little scratching and scuffing.
