vintage monkey socks - rare tiny baby doll size Rockford red heel work socks

Lot of eight little pairs of 'monkey socks'... these are out of an estate in the Rockford Illinois area, and we think they're probably a novelty produced by Nelson, the original maker of the famous red heel socks. We've never seen these before!

The feet are just 3" long, the entire sock just 5" top to toe hung up like stockings. They're cotton yarn just like the full size socks. Heels have stitching as shown (not sure when or why this was added?). All eight pairs are in good clean condition, never used.
