vintage terrier dog match holder or toothpick vase, painted composition Scotty dog

1930s or 40s vintage molded composition Scottish terrier dog to hold toothpicks or matches, worn and scuffed but still so sweet. Measures about 3 1/4" tall overall. No makers marks at all that I could see, though it looks like an early Syrowood? Syrocowood? piece to me.
