vintage white linen table mats or napkins, Madeira style needle lace embroidery & drawn thread

Beautiful fine linen or pina cloth pieces with very elaborate needle lace white work. I'm not sure if these were meant as napkins or possibly hankies? There's two matching pieces in this lot, both 14" square, edges unhemmed. Both clean and bright, they could use pressing!
