vintage wood recipe box, tole painted folk art primitive old country style

Tole style hand painted wooden recipe box, dated 1961 on the bottom - though the design is very much Early American / Pennsylvania Dutch from about 200 years before that!

This is beautifully done, with pomegranate design. The paint is pleasingly worn, this looks like an antique until you realize there probably weren't any boxes designed to hold 3" x 5" index cards back then. Measures about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 4" tall over the exterior of the box.
