antique cast metal figural inkwell or egg holder, baby chick w/ cart

Antique vintage cast spelter chick and cart, a dull silver lead color which was probably silver plated originally.

We didn't find a makers mark on this... probably Germany or Austria, we think? We're guessing it once held an egg cup, though possibly an inkwell?

It measures about 4" long, chick is 1 3/4" tall. This needs some repair as the chick is broken away from the cart as shown.
