antique architectural cast iron cannon ball finial hitching/gate post

Large old antique vintage cast iron cannon ball post finial. This is an original period antique and not a newer reproduction. It has a patina of age and rust to the iron and the remains of old red paint.

This finial measures 8 1/4" high overall and 4 1/4" across the cannonball. The base of the finial has an outside diameter (across) of 5 1/2" and an inside diameter of about 4 7/8" and so has a wall thickness of about 5/16".
