antique 1800s vintage Davenport china white ironstone tureen or covered dish

Antique Davenport (English Staffordshire) ironstone china tureen... this has an unusual mark for Davenport, mid 19th century at our best guess?

I don't believe the marked 88 has anything to do with the date as the marks for 1888 listed in our reference books are not much like this one. And the diamond shaped mark is almost impossible for us to make out, or photo clearly. (Sorry!)

It's lacking an underplate, but a fabulous piece aside from that. It has tall shapely oval bowl with notched cover and fruit shaped finial, and stands 12 1/2" tall overall. The bowl is 13 1/2" across the handles.

There's no chips or cracks to either piece, though both pieces have some browning discoloration from age and use. And there's a few small rub marks to the finish (the top of the finial being the most noticeable).
