antique primitive hand cranked tool spindle, /flywheel w/curved spokes

Primitive old hand cranked tool spindle from an old farm estate. We're not sure exactly what this tool was for. It is made to clamp onto a work table or bench and the tapered spindle was driven by hand with a leather belt from the flywheel with a wooden handle. The hand wheel has curved spokes and measures about 6" across. The tool measures about 8 1/2" high overall.

This old tool has a patina of age and worn old paint.
