vintage coiled basketry sewing basket, Indian souvenir from Mexico

Vintage sewing or darning / mending basket, measures 11 1/2" in diameter over the rim. We've been told that this type of coiled basket work is made in Mexico, for souvenir pieces. This one is in very nice condition, clean and sturdy.

We like the bowl shape, and think that this would make a nice table centerpiece bowl for just about anything!
