vintage Mexican pottery, small plates and mugs Aztec style hand painted red clay terracotta

Beautifully made vintage Mexican pottery plates and mugs - six 6" diameter plates and six short fat mugs or cups in this lot. These have a very detailed hand painted border which looks like something typically described as Aztec, though I don't know the actual origin of these pieces.

I've only found one other example of a design like this, in the internet archives of the Field Museum. These pieces aren't marked or signed at all that I could see, but I think they're late 20th century. Vintage, not antique.

There's a chip to one of the plates (see photos), but all eleven of the other pieces are in very good condition, no wear, no chips or cracks.
