Old antique 3" diameter brass architectural ball finial. This brass ball is from the estate of a man who worked demolition for many years and may have originally been used as a final for a stairway newel post or as a knob for a brass bed.
This old finial is made of solid brass (non-magnetic). It is formed from spun sheet brass with a center rod to hold the two hemispheres together and a cast brass base. It measures about 3" across and 3 1/2" high and 7/8" across the base. It has a great patina of age and is slightly bent at the top of the ball and at the base.
