old marble finial, carved stone pinecone or pineapple door stop, vintage architectural ornament

Vintage carved marble stone pine cone or pineapple shape, solid and very heavy. This measures 6" tall, 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" at the base.

It's marked Italy, we think? It's been varnished at some point, so we'd guess it's a door stop rather than a oversized bookend! It's a lovely piece.
